About
Tyler Steinkamp streams League of Legends as Tyler1; Draven is among his signature champions.[1] Before making streaming his full-time work, he studied computer science at Central Methodist University and withdrew from the course.[2][3]
The ban and the return
Riot Games banned Steinkamp from League of Legends in April 2016 for abusive behaviour towards other players. He said he had reformed, and Riot lifted the ban in January 2018.[3][2] During the ban, his broadcasts expanded to H1Z1 and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, alongside cooking and other non-gaming streams.[3]
He launched the Tyler1 Championship Series in November 2017 and funded its first $10,000 prize himself.[3] His January 2018 return stream drew more than 382,000 concurrent viewers, which surpassed Faker's record for an individual Twitch channel.[4]
Challenger in every role
By February 2022, Steinkamp had reached Challenger, League's highest rank, in all five roles on the North American server. The challenge required him to climb with fresh accounts as he moved between positions. He reached Challenger as a mid laner in September 2021. Support was the final role; he needed about 450 matches after his earlier climbs through the other positions.[1]
