About

Jaryd Russell Lazar, known online as summit1g, is an American streamer and former professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player. His broadcasts cover several games, including Escape from Tarkov and Sea of Thieves.[1] He began streaming around 2012 and likes first-person shooters most.[2]

Getting into streaming

In a 2017 interview, Lazar said he came across livestreaming while working at a LAN gaming center, where he and his boss browsed the internet during breaks. Early broadcasters such as Sodapoppin made a strong impression on him. He named DayZ on Arma 2 as a favorite game to stream: in Call of Duty he knew what was coming, while in DayZ anything could happen.[3] In April 2018, viewers criticized him for playing Fortnite with Jake Paul; during the stream he defended the collaboration and said he was disappointed by their reaction.[4]

Since 2020

Lazar signed a multiyear agreement with Twitch in May 2020.[5] On July 2, 2021, he set a world record in the Hardcore category of Max Payne 3 during a live speedrun.[6][1] In 2023, ONE Championship invited him and EsfandTV to stream its first mixed martial arts event in the United States.[1]
