About
Twitch uses its official channel for product broadcasts and community events.[1][2][3] The streaming service began in June 2011 as a gaming-focused offshoot of Justin.tv.[4] The company directed viewers to this channel for its September 2016 TwitchCon keynote.[1]
Patch Notes and TwitchCon
Patch Notes gives Twitch staff a place to explain platform changes and answer questions live. In March 2023, Twitch announced an episode about changes to its Ads Incentive Program.[2]
The channel was also a broadcast destination for TwitchCon Rotterdam in June 2024, alongside Twitch Rivals, Creator Camp and NomNom. Announcements included portrait-format clips, a drop-in option for Stream Together and Creator Clubs for DJs and IRL streamers. Twitch introduced Bleed Purple awards for broadcasters reaching specified totals of hours watched.[3]
At TwitchCon Rotterdam in May 2026, the company announced stream summaries and further work on automatically generated clips. Its keynote also covered captions for community clips and custom chat badges for channel milestones.[5]
