About
Daytona Taputu, a New Zealand carver, uses broxh_ for his broadcasts of traditional Māori wood carving.[1][2] He also streams video games.[3] World of Warcraft is his favorite game.[2]
From the carving school to Twitch
His uncle introduced him to wood carving when he was 12.[4] Taputu trained at The National Wood Carving School at Te Puia in Rotorua and worked at Tamaki Māori Village before becoming a freelance carver during the pandemic.[5] In April 2020, Twitch Australia and New Zealand featured him in its Creative Showcase.[5] A clip in which he tried to return a viewer's subscription money then spread online.[5]
Carving with Jacinda Ardern
During the September 2020 election campaign, Jacinda Ardern visited his livestream and tried Māori wood carving with him.[1] Taputu later chose that visit as a favorite streaming memory in an interview with Elgato.[2]
