About

Guillermo Díaz Ibáñez, known as Willyrex, is a Spanish YouTube creator and author whose videos focus on Call of Duty and Minecraft.[1][2] He runs the Willyrex and TheWillyrex channels.[1] He coauthored the Wigetta books with Vegetta777.[1] Willyrex was nominated for Content Creator of the Year at The Game Awards in 2018.[3]

Books and games

Wigetta: Un viaje mágico was published on 17 March 2015. It tells an illustrated, interactive story inspired by video games.[4] He also wrote Diminutos: Una pequeña gran aventura with sTaXx; it was published on 4 October 2016.[5]

Willyrex, Vegetta777 and sTaXx launched the mobile game KarmaRun in 2014. By March 2015, it had reached two million downloads.[6] Willyrex and Vegetta777 became partners in the esports club MAD Lions in December 2018.[7]

Early videos

He bought a capture card so he could upload game sessions to YouTube for his friends to watch.[8] He studied Business Administration and Management before deciding to give YouTube a year.[9]

NFT projects

In 2021, Willyrex shifted his channel from video games to metaverse and NFT topics, a decision most of his followers criticised. Criticism of his NFT announcement on 22 March 2021 delayed the launch; on 18 November 2021, he released a collection with the artist Zigor.[10]

Spicy4Tuna

Willyrex later joined Álvaro845, Euge Oller and Marc Urgell on Spicy4Tuna, a podcast about business and current affairs. They published its first episode on 5 October 2023.[10]
