About
Chica, whose real name is Maria Lopez, is a Fortnite streamer who broadcasts in English and Spanish. Her audience is known as the Pollo Army. She became the first Latina creator in the game's Icon Series. Her outfit incorporated the Puerto Rican flag.[1][2][3]
Friday Fortnite and TSM
Born in Puerto Rico, Lopez started streaming while attending college. She spent two years with TSM before leaving in September 2020, then signed with talent agency Loaded the following month.[1] In a 2022 interview, she credited appearances in Friday Fortnite tournaments with bringing attention to her channel and said TikTok clips had subsequently brought viewers to her Twitch streams and YouTube videos.[2]
Designing her Icon Series set
Epic Games announced her set in May 2022, including a five-style outfit and the Pollo Dance emote. Its launch included the May 5 Chica Cup, a Zero Build Duos competition, and a Creative obstacle course made by KyberCreative.[4] Lopez said she chose clothing that reflected her own style. In October, StockX introduced her as a brand ambassador; she described becoming an Icon Series creator as her most memorable career moment.[2][3]
