About
Fortnite's official Twitch channel carries competition broadcasts for Epic Games' Fortnite Championship Series, or FNCS.[1][2]
How FNCS works
The competition uses Fortnite's Battle Royale mode with building enabled. Players compete in duos or trios depending on the year. The series progresses through divisional play, play-ins, heats and Major Finals, which qualify teams for the Global Championship. In its 2026 overview, Epic listed a prize pool of more than $10 million across the competition and allocated the largest shares to in-person events.[2]
Tournament broadcasts
For Chapter 2 Season 7 in 2021, the Twitch channel provided English coverage of Europe, North America East and North America West. Spectators could earn seasonal cosmetics through Twitch Drops, and Epic also planned a finals broadcast inside Fortnite's Party Royale mode.[1] In May 2026, Epic announced Antwerp, Belgium, as the venue for the September Global Championship. Its revised qualifying system allocated places to 25 duos from Major 2 and another ten from an online Last Chance tournament.[3]
FTC settlement
In December 2022, Epic agreed to pay $520 million to settle Federal Trade Commission allegations over Fortnite: a $275 million penalty for violating the children's privacy law COPPA, the largest ever for breaking an FTC rule, and $245 million in refunds for purchases made through deceptive interface designs.[4] Epic said long-standing industry practices were no longer enough and described changes to purchase confirmations, refunds and privacy defaults.[5]
