CodeMiko is a virtual character performed by streamer Youna Kang, who also appears as The Technician.[1][2] Her interview streams use motion capture, and viewers can change the avatar and its surroundings through chat.[2][1]
CodeMiko: An Interactive Vtuber Experience won Best in Show in the Real-Time Live! programme at SIGGRAPH Asia 2021.[3] Kang won the VTuber category at the 2022 Streamy Awards and Best VTuber Streamer at The Streamer Awards ceremony that year.[4][5]
Creating Miko
Kang decided to pursue streaming full-time after losing her animation-studio job in March 2020.[2][1] A video showing her beside the animated character went viral in November 2020 and brought viewers to the channel. In Miko's fictional backstory, she turned to streaming after being too glitchy to get a part in a mainstream video game.[2]
January 2021 suspension
Twitch suspended Kang in January 2021 after she displayed an email address during an interview. She explained that displaying the screenshot had caused the ban.[6]
