About

Roberto Escanio, known as Fanum, is a Bronx creator who makes New York storytime videos and explains the city's slang to viewers elsewhere.[1][2] The phrase "Fanum tax" comes from him taking a share of his friends' food on stream.[3]

New York videos and AMP

He left City Tech to concentrate on YouTube and helped assemble AMP by inviting creators including Kai Cenat into the group.[2] Alongside AMP's collaborative challenges, he streams Grand Theft Auto Online. He won Best Roleplay Streamer at The Streamer Awards in March 2023 and February 2024, and the 2025 edition also named him the winner.[3] In August 2023, he won Breakout Streamer at the Streamy Awards.[4][3]

Inside and food shows

Fanum competed in the Sidemen's first Inside series in June 2024 and finished fourth.[3] He later became a host alongside Valkyrae for Inside: USA, which premiered on Netflix in September 2025.[5][6] The show puts creators through challenges while purchases and failures reduce the potential $1 million prize.[5] That July, GQ released a Fanum Goes Gourmet episode in which he tasted and rated dishes at The Corner Store in New York.[7]

2024 parade dispute

During a July 2024 livestream from the Bronx Dominican Day Parade, police stopped his car at gunpoint and detained his driver.[8][9] After the Lamborghini was returned, Fanum said he intended to take legal action against the NYPD.[8]
