Ryan Gary Letourneau, the Canadian streamer known as Northernlion, built an audience with Let's Plays of indie games, including The Binding of Isaac.[1] His Northernlion Live Super Show ran from 2013 to 2021. Co-hosts joined him to play several games in three-hour broadcasts.[1]
He lives in Vancouver and married fellow creator Kate Letourneau in May 2014. He beat B0aty at Pac-Man 256 during Amazon's Champions of Fire tournament in 2016.[1]
Balatro and Demon Bluff
Balatro developer LocalThunk cited watching Northernlion play Luck Be a Landlord as an influence on the game's design.[2] Northernlion later backed Demon Bluff with Ludwig through Offbrand and supported its development. He also helped with playtesting and design feedback. He discovered Demon Bluff five days after its public playtest appeared at Offbrand's Secret Sauce showcase on July 19, 2025.[3]
On April 16, 2026, he canceled the planned Northernlion Supercruise over safety concerns and promised full refunds to everyone who had booked.[4]
