About

PietSmiet makes gaming videos, cooking programmes and game shows for YouTube, alongside Twitch broadcasts.^[1] Its members include Dennis Brammen, a co-founder of the Friendly Fire charity stream.^[2]

Videos, PietCast and cookbooks

Peter Smits started the main channel in 2007. He and Denis Hartwig played EVE Online in its first Let's Play on February 2, 2011.^[1] Smits and Christian Stachelhaus launched PietCast during a visit to the GEEK games convention on February 18, 2015. Hartwig left that October, and the remaining members continued the channel.^[1]

By April 2024, the group had made its second cookbook, Von Studentenbude bis Sterneküche, with chef Dominik Käppeler.^[3]

Friendly Fire and Formula 1

Brammen traced Friendly Fire's beginnings to discussions between Smits and Gronkh after their earlier live-show collaborations.^[2] PietSmiet reported in a December 2024 video that Friendly Fire 10 had raised €2 million in 12 hours.^[4] The team also provided its own commentary for the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix on Twitch, part of Formula 1's first live Grand Prix weekend on the platform.^[1]^[5]
