About

Aris Bakhtanians, known as AvoidingThePuddle, is a streamer and Tekken commentator.[1][2] He won the 2004 Cannes World Championship in Soul Calibur II after placing fourth in the game at Evolution in 2003.[3] He also won Content Creator of the Year at the inaugural Tekken Awards.

Competition and commentary

By March 2010, pure eSports had sponsored him for the MLG Tekken 6 circuit as the first member of its pure.TEKKEN team. That year, he won the Namco Bandai North American regional qualifier and placed fourth at the Namco Bandai American Championship.[3]

In February 2012, while coaching Team Tekken on Capcom's Cross Assault reality show, he made comments that Kotaku described as supporting sexual harassment, including lewd remarks aimed at a female teammate.[4][5] He apologized in a statement to Giant Bomb, saying he had used extreme examples in the heat of the moment.[5]

He contributed the Dragunov section to the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 guide, according to fellow contributor Tyler Bustinza in a September 2012 interview.[6] He commentated on the Tekken 7 final at Evo 2019, where Arslan Ash won the title.[7]

Documentary and videos

He appeared in the first part of Bandai Namco's documentary Swords and Souls: The Rise of SoulCalibur, which was available in October 2018. Maximilian, Markman and Kayane also appeared in that installment to discuss their involvement with the series.[8]

His YouTube channel carries Tekken 7 tutorials and playthroughs of games such as Death Stranding 2 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. In ATP Appeals Court, he reads viewers' ban appeals on stream.[9]
