About

dota2ti broadcasts The International in English on Twitch.[1] Valve's Dota 2 championship awards the Aegis of Champions to its winning team.[2]

Watching The International

Twitch directed viewers to dota2ti for the 2013 tournament in Seattle.[3] Valve also advertised free viewing through Dota 2 and Dota2.com. Commentary and spectator features were planned for the main event.[4]

For the 2016 event, Twitch announced that it was working with Valve to offer 1080p video at 60 frames per second on the official English, Russian and Chinese streams.[5]

Tournament origins and prize pools

The International began at Gamescom in Cologne in 2011. Dota 2 was shown publicly for the first time at the event. Crowdfunding began with the 2013 Compendium, which added a quarter of its sales revenue to the base prize pool. After the COVID-19 pandemic forced a postponement in 2020, the tournament returned in Bucharest in October 2021 with a $40 million prize pool, a record for a single esports event.[2]
