About

BeyondTheSummit was an esports production studio and tournament organizer known for its Summit invitationals.[1][2] Players joined the commentary from a living-room setting and took part in comedy skits during the broadcasts.[3]

The studio began with Dota 2 and expanded to games including Super Smash Bros. and Counter-Strike.[2] In 2021, Bayes Esports became its exclusive data partner for seven events, covering Dota Pro Circuit and CS:GO tournaments. The partners also planned to monitor for match fixing, an issue that David Gorman said mattered to the organization.[4]

The final Summit

In February 2023, co-founder Gorman announced that BeyondTheSummit would lay off its entire staff because its financial outlook could no longer support the existing business. Staff were promised two more weeks on the payroll and a further two weeks' severance. Smash Ultimate Summit 6, scheduled for March 23-26, was announced as the final event.[5] Team Liquid published a farewell that March with players' accounts of the studio and its tournaments.[3]
