About
LEC carries the official Twitch broadcasts of the League of Legends EMEA Championship. Riot Games runs the championship.[1]
The league began in 2013 as the European League of Legends Championship Series, or EU LCS. It adopted the European Championship name in 2019, then became the EMEA Championship in 2023 as its region expanded beyond Europe.[1]
LEC Versus and the 2026 season
LEC Versus replaced the Winter split in 2026. It brought together ten partner teams and two invited teams from the EMEA Regional Leagues. The competition used best-of-one round-robin matches before an eight-team playoff. Its winner earned the region's place at First Stand. Regular-season matches were staged at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin.[2]
Spring and Summer used ten-team, best-of-three round robins followed by best-of-five playoffs for the top six. Riot's format announcement assigned two Mid-Season Invitational places to Spring and three World Championship places to Summer.[3][2]
