About

The Riot Games Twitch channel carries League of Legends esports and broadcasts about the company's other games.[1] Riot was founded by Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill in 2006 and is headquartered in Los Angeles.[2][3]

League of Legends and other games

The studio released its first game, League of Legends, in 2009.[2] Its catalogue also includes the tactical shooter VALORANT and the strategy game Teamfight Tactics.[3][4] Wild Rift adapts League of Legends for mobile play, while Legends of Runeterra includes the deck-building adventure Path of Champions.[3]

In July 2020, Riot ended the LEC's NEOM sponsorship after criticism from staff and fans. The company said it had missed its own expectations and would reexamine its internal structures.[5][6]

In November 2018, three months after a Kotaku investigation into sexism at the company, current and former employees filed a gender discrimination class action against Riot.[7] In December 2021 Riot agreed to pay $100 million, including $80 million to the class, and to three years of third-party monitoring of its reporting and pay equity processes; a court approved the settlement in May 2023.[8][9]

Arcane on Twitch

Riot worked with the French animation studio Fortiche on Arcane, its first television series, set in the League of Legends universe.[2] The series premiered on Netflix and Tencent Video in November 2021.[2] Riot scheduled its first episode on this Twitch channel for November 6 and gave creators permission to co-stream it.[10] The companies had previously collaborated on the music video Get Jinxed and the K/DA video POP/STARS.[2] In March 2022, Riot announced that it had acquired a non-controlling stake in Fortiche, which would continue to operate independently.[2]
