About
Max Smith, known as Maximum, is the World of Warcraft raid leader and guild master of Liquid Guild. By June 2026, the guild had won four consecutive Race to World First events.[1]
From Limit to Liquid
He cofounded Limit on March 2, 2015.[2] He took over as raid leader after Truefire stepped down in August 2016.[3]
The guild competed as Complexity-Limit when it won the Ny’alotha race in February 2020 and Castle Nathria in December 2020.[4] For Ny’alotha, Limit used a full-time raid leader outside the raid, who could watch the team without controlling a character in the encounter.[3]
Limit joined Team Liquid in January 2022 and became Liquid Guild.[2][3] The move also made Maximum a minority owner of Team Liquid.[2] By September 2024, Liquid had defeated Queen Ansurek to win the Nerub-ar Palace Race to World First.[5]
Raid-leading videos
His “Raid leading the Limit way” videos cover communication and the raid leader’s role. In the description of “Undercover Raid Leading: Raszageth”, he recalled looking for a Heroic Raszageth group to join undercover.[6]
