Monstercat is a Canadian electronic music label whose Twitch channel broadcasts music and artist performances.[1][2] Mike Darlington and Ari Paunonen founded it in Waterloo in 2011.[2]
Radio and artist broadcasts
Twitch worked with the label's 24-hour Monstercat FM channel when it introduced its beta Music category in January 2015.[3] The Call of the Wild radio programme also reaches listeners through Twitch. In 2020, the label launched mctv on the platform as a series where fans could discover music and its artists could perform.[2]
Releases and ownership
Its releases appear under Uncaged, Instinct and Silk; the Silk brand followed the acquisition of Silk Music in 2021.[2][1] Monstercat offers non-exclusive record deals and describes its royalty arrangements as a 50/50 split with monthly payments.[2] By May 2025, Create Music Group had acquired the label and announced that its founders would take advisory roles.[4]
The label has partnered with Rocket League and Beat Saber, and licenses music for videos and livestreams through SoundScout.[2]
