Paul Licari spent eight years in the Australian military before making Escape from Tarkov guides and streaming as Pestily on Twitch and YouTube.[1][2]
He served as an infantry rifleman in Southeast Asia and translated Indonesian, then worked part time as a firefighter with the MFS in South Australia.[1][3] After leaving the military, he planned a three-month break and began streaming to meet people and socialize.[1] After returning to Adelaide, he took up streaming full time; he dates his serious pursuit of it to February 2018.[3]
When Tarkov resets
He told Dan Gheesling in a 2019 interview that he taught himself video production when he began his YouTube channel.[1] Following a Tarkov wipe, he rushed to publish new guides within hours of the reset.[1] He described YouTube as another way for viewers to discover him, alongside his Twitch broadcasts.[1]
