Battlestate Games develops and publishes Escape from Tarkov and uses its BattlestateGames channel for TarkovTV broadcasts.[1][2][3] Escape from Tarkov combines online role-playing with first-person shooting. The studio also makes Escape from Tarkov: Arena, a competitive shooter built around individual sessions that uses Tarkov's mechanics.[2]

The Unheard Edition dispute

In April 2024, owners of Escape from Tarkov's Edge of Darkness Edition, advertised as including all future DLC, objected when a new offline co-op PvE mode was initially restricted to the $250 Unheard Edition.[4][5] Nikita Buyanov apologized in a Reddit post and said Edge of Darkness owners would receive the mode at no extra cost, while the Unheard Edition would remain on sale.[4]

Tarkov 1.0 and RAID

After a closed beta that began in 2017, Escape from Tarkov reached version 1.0 on November 15, 2025. A special TarkovTV broadcast on the channel accompanied the release.[6][7][8][3]

The release campaign also promoted RAID, a miniseries assembled into a feature film set in the game's world. Anton Rosenberg directed the film, which depicts armed conflict in the Norvinsk region, a special economic zone on the border between Russia and Europe.[9]

Studio head Nikita Buyanov described satisfaction as the aim of Tarkov's punishing gameplay in an interview reported by Insider Gaming in December 2025. He said players wanted an unforgiving game where they could gain everything or come away with nothing.[10]
