DeAndre Cortez Way, known as Soulja Boy, is an American rapper whose single Crank That (Soulja Boy) held the Billboard Hot 100's number-one spot for seven non-consecutive weeks in 2007.[1] He recorded the song in March 2007 and made a low-budget video demonstrating its dance. His debut album, Souljaboytellem.com, came out that year and reached number four on the Billboard 200.[1] Crank That also received a Best Rap Song nomination at the 2008 Grammy Awards.[2]
His next album, iSouljaBoyTellem, arrived in 2008 with Turn My Swag On and Kiss Me thru the Phone. Pretty Boy Swag was a single from The DeAndre Way, released in 2010. He founded Stacks on Deck Entertainment and continued releasing mixtapes after his Interscope deal expired in 2013. He signed with Virgin Music in April 2021.[1]
