Gosu is a Canadian League of Legends streamer known for Vayne and the AD carry role. His early broadcasts showed gameplay without a microphone or camera.[1][2]
From StarCraft to League
He had played StarCraft for years when friends introduced him to League of Legends in 2010.[1][3] He experimented with broadcasting on Own3d in 2012 and watched Doublelift, whose streams encouraged him to play AD carry and broadcast himself. Vayne became his main champion as he climbed the ranked ladder. A gameplay montage shared on Reddit brought a sudden increase in viewers to his streams.[3]
Making streaming his job
In December 2015, he began using a microphone and publicly shared his appearance. He later said that speaking to viewers made broadcasting more enjoyable after long sessions of silent solo queue.[3]
As his audience grew, Gosu postponed university studies to stream full time. He considered professional competition and attended team tryouts, but in a Yahoo interview published in February 2017 he said he preferred the freedom of streaming to a league player's schedule.[3] He reached Challenger from Season 4 through Season 10 and peaked at rank eight in Season 5.[1]
