About
Mert Abi, born Mert Ekşi, is a German streamer and former rapper whose debut album, Kunde ist König, reached number two in Germany in 2017.[1][2] By January 2024, he had announced that he would stop releasing music and concentrate on Twitch.[3][1]
From FIFA videos to rap
He started the itsMertTV YouTube channel on August 22, 2011.[1] His early Fifa Kingz videos featured matches against rappers such as Alpa Gun and Massiv.[1]
His first single, Ausländer, reached third place in the iTunes hip-hop charts in 2015. The four-song AMK EP followed in June 2016.[4] After his debut album, Delikanlı reached number six in Germany in 2018, and Boxerschnitt followed in 2019.[2]
He founded the label Mula Brothers, which released Kunde ist König 2 in 2020; the album reached number eight in Germany. In 2021, he recorded Joga Bonito with Z.[2]
Divimove ended its partnership with him in 2017 after homophobic statements in a YouTube video.[5] He later denied being against gay people and apologized for the video.[1]
Streaming and Eksioglu Sucuk
When explaining his decision to stop making music, he said Twitch let him be himself, whereas his videos and music had required him to play a role.[3] By January 2025, he had also introduced the Eksioglu Sucuk food brand.[6]
