About
GothamChess is the chess teacher and author Levy Rozman, who earned the International Master title in 2018.[1][2] His book How to Win at Chess came out in October 2023 and reached fourth on The New York Times bestseller list in the Advice, How-To and Miscellaneous category.[3][4]
Teaching on screen and in schools
Rozman started teaching chess while still in high school in 2010. By 2015, he ran a K-12 chess program whose team won city and state championships. He moved his teaching online in 2020 and made videos on openings and beginner mistakes as well as recaps of top-level competitions.[5] He also created Chessly, where new and improving players can study chess courses.[6]
His $100,000 scholarship fund supported school chess teams during the 2021-22 academic year. The funding paid for lessons, equipment and tournament travel as teams returned to over-the-board play after the pandemic.[7]
By August 2026, Rozman had joined BASILISK as Head of Chess.[8]
