DDG, born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. in Pontiac, Michigan, is an American rapper who first built an audience with YouTube vlogs as PontiacMadeDDG while still in high school.^[1][2][3]

From YouTube to rap

Granberry graduated as his high school valedictorian and attended Central Michigan University before leaving to pursue his online career. He told REVOLT that his early music grew out of the diss tracks video creators were making at the time.^[1] His releases include the Blueface remix of "Moonwalking in Calabasas" and Die 4 Respect, his 2021 mixtape with producer OG Parker. That year, he appeared in XXL's Freshman class. He had already performed at Reading and Leeds on his first visit to the UK.^[3][2][4]

Recording with the chat

For Blame the Chat, released in May 2025, DDG recorded much of the album during March's seven-day Hit-A-Thon broadcast. Viewers helped choose beats and influenced the guest list. The final album contained 15 tracks, including "Pink Dreads" with PlaqueBoyMax, a collaboration released before the marathon. Several songs recorded during the stream did not make the finished album.^[5] In December 2025, he was among the nominees for Best Music Streamer and Best Breakout Streamer at the Streamer Awards.^[6]
