About

Lee Sang-hyeok, known as Faker, is a South Korean six-time League of Legends world champion who plays the mid lane for T1. He joined the organization in 2013 and won his first world championship that year. He was born in Seoul on May 7, 1996.[1]

Before turning professional, he attended Mapo High School and left to pursue esports. Another future professional, Deft, attended the same school, although they did not know each other there.[2]

World titles and the Hall of Legends

He won further world championships in 2015, 2016, 2023, 2024 and 2025. His sixth title came when T1 beat KT Rolster 3-2 in the 2025 final; it was the team’s third consecutive world title.[1][3]

By May 2024, he had also won ten Korean league titles and two Mid-Season Invitationals. That month Riot Games announced him as the first inductee into its Hall of Legends.[4]

Streaming

His first Twitch broadcast in February 2017 drew a then-record peak of 245,100 viewers for an individual streamer. He later began broadcasting on AfreecaTV in June 2022 under T1’s streaming agreement.[1]
