About

Mendo is a former Overwatch competitor who set an Apex Legends solo-kill record with 36 kills in a February 2019 match.[1][2] Team Liquid welcomed him that August, by which time it described him as a former holder of the record.[3]

Overwatch and the Houston Outlaws

Mendo is Lucas Håkansson, who previously competed as Mendokusaii. He played Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Natural Selection 2 competitively before concentrating on Overwatch.[4] His teams included Cloud9 and FaZe Clan, and the Houston Outlaws recruited him in 2017.[4][5] By September 2018, the Outlaws had announced that he would become a content creator within the organization.[1] He later told WIRED about a rigid practice schedule and contractual limits on his Twitch broadcasts.[5]

When deciding whether to switch from Overwatch to Apex Legends, Mendo asked his viewers which game they wanted to watch. He recalled in his Team Liquid interview that almost everyone had chosen Apex Legends.[3]
