NICKMERCS started streaming Gears of War in 2010 on Justin.tv, the service that preceded Twitch.[1] Nick Kolcheff, the American streamer behind the name, was born on November 21, 1990.[2]
In early 2018, his Fortnite squad set a 55-kill record; on January 30, he and NioiLy set a console duos record with 46.[3][4] He won the 2020 Streamy Award for Live Streamer.[5][2]
From Warzone to Apex Legends
Kolcheff built an audience around Call of Duty: Warzone and signed a two-year Twitch agreement in October 2021.[1] He later turned to Apex Legends, practised off stream and reached the game's Apex Predator rank within months.[1] By January 2023, he had moved into the Apex Legends Global Series professional circuit.[1] In May 2019, he left 100 Thieves over a disputed 5% ownership promise from Nadeshot, who declined to comment.[6] After joining FaZe Clan in 2019, he announced his departure on January 10, 2025, and said there was no dispute with the organization.[7]
MFAM meetups
His audience uses the name MFAM, and community gatherings have included a Florida barbecue in 2021 and an event in San Diego in 2022.[8][1] At the San Diego gathering, held near TwitchCon, he booked a sports bar and provided fans with free food and shirts.[1]
In June 2023, Activision removed his Call of Duty bundle from sale after a tweet about LGBTQ discussions in schools.[9][10] Kolcheff said he meant parents should handle those conversations and declined to apologize.[9]
